MOBIL-MEDIC "TRUCK" TRAUMA KIT
Review by: Mike Fissel - As seen in JPFreek Adventure Magazine, October 2010
Here Is What WE Say About It:
For years I have stressed the importance of being prepared for emergencies on the trail. Not too long ago, we were all again reminded of the importance
of this with the tragic accident in the Mohave Desert at the Desert Truck Race. The news reported it took over 30 minutes for help to arrive. Again I ask,
“Will You Be Prepared”?
First Aid kits are probably present in every Jeep that travels off-road or should be. They are quite handy for small cuts, scrapes, headaches etc.
Unfortunately, they are totally useless in the event of typical severe injuries you might encounter in a medical emergency off-road. For these you need
medical training (a simple 2 day weekend course in Wilderness 1st Aid) and very good trauma kit.
If you are a club or trip leader and will be leading a group of people, a larger kit is needed and
Mobil Medic sells such a kit, actually several of them depending on your needs. From small kits for the individual with enough supplies to treat one or
These larger kits are the ones the professional paramedics and rescue trucks carry. There are lots of companies out there selling Trauma Kits, why Mobil Medic?
Simple, quality, price and service. Quite frankly, you won’t find a well stocked, similarly priced kit anywhere.
While the smaller Volunteer Kit that features over 200 items including Cervical Collar, Berman Airways, CPR Face Shield, Adult BVM Rescue Breather, several large and
x-large trauma pads, flexible splint, hemostat, trauma shears, gauge pads, nitrile gloves, instant ice packs, blood pressure cuff, stethoscope, blood
stopper trauma pack, forceps, surgical masks and more. The Truck Kit has everything the Volunteer Kit has but in larger quantities, twice the amount and even a few items
not found in the Volunteer Kit. The Truck Kit is ideal for a group or a club to carry on-off-road trips and was designed for multiple patients.
The Truck Kit is the kit I carry in my Jeep and while I haven’t had to use it yet, I always look for the chance to show it off. It is stocked to
easily handle one or more major medical emergencies. The perfect kit to carry
in your vehicle as the leader of your group.
Mobile Medic offers a variety of kits for the individual with basic training up to the professional paramedic and ambulance corps/rescue squad.
They give a big bang for the buck and because of their competitive pricing, you can buy a bigger kit for less than the competitors smaller kits.
They donate part of their proceeds to the Wounded Warrior Project and the Semper Fi Fund for wounded Marines and in my search for quality Trauma
Kits at affordable prices, I found no other company doing the same.
Update on Mobil-Medic. Recentltly, after several years of serving First Responders, Mobil-Medic closed their doors. Unfortunately their products are no longer
available.
Looks like we will be looking for a new source for Trauma Kits for our Members.
We'll wait until then, post some reviews and remove the Mobil-Medic
products from our website.
