Members' Rigs: Anthony Alfonte

Anthony’s “Red Donkey”

Anthony Alfonte’s interest in four wheeling started at a very young age in Virginia. One of his fondest memories growing up was one particular family picnic where the thrill of 4LO was discovered. Most of the family drove to the picnic spot in their family cars and vans except for his brother who had a 1985 Ford Bronco. Since there was an apple orchard nearby, they all decided to pile in the Bronco and pick apples. Getting to the “unpicked” area of the orchard needed some serious 4LO action! They made it in and out without any hitches, hauling at least 4 bushels of Fuji’s, Red and Golden Delicious, not to mention all 11 people in the group. Imagine the scene in the orchard weigh station when they all came out, just like an old Laurel and Hardy movie. Hilarious!

Since then, he has owned a 1996 Jeep Cherokee which he wheeled and hunted with in the Virginia countryside. The XJ also made a cross country trip in November 2005 when Anthony moved to the Valley.

Anthony’s current off-road and expedition vehicle is a 1999 Jeep Wrangler Sport. This TJ had a correct start early on. It was never wheeled until the skids and rockers were in place. Anthony has been heard calling it as his “Red Donkey”.

Currently the “Red Donkey” has the following functional modifications: 31” BFG KO All-Terrains in Jeep Ecco wheels, 2" RE lift, Warrior Safari Rack, AtoZ Rock Sliders, Warn Engine Skids, Warn 9.5Ti winch, IPF X51 headlight conversion, Dirtworx rear expedition bumper, and KC Daylighters.

Future mods lined up are: complete front and rear Dana 44 swap, RE 3.5” Super-Flex lift, 33” BFG KM2’s and gas tank skids.
