Planned Trip : Area B: Barry Goldwater USAF Bombing Range Nov 29 & 30, 2008

Our 1st Exploration of Area B was done as part of the pre-expedition planning for our 2nd Devil's Highway trip. We liked it so much that the optional day 3 on the Devil's Highway trip was on Area B

Eerie volcanic rock formations, canyons, valleys, diverse vegitation, landscape and trail conditions. This and more in Area B

THIS IS A JEEP ONLY EVENT LIMITED TO MEMBERS OF THE JEEP EXPEDITIONS GROUP !

Trip will be limited to the 1st 25 Jeeps that sign up. Area B is located between Gila Bend and Ajo, AZ, a short ride from Phoenix. In addition to the "Devils Highway" Permit you also need the "video" stamp on "Devil's Highway" permit to show you saw and understood the safety video which deals with NOT touching any unexploded bombs or ordinace you might find.

This is the area east of Rte 85 between Gila Bend and Ajo and takes in part of the Barry Goldwater Bombing range and the Sonoran Desert National Monument

This is a very beautiful area with lots of interesting scenery and volcanic rock formations.

The BEST thing it is a nice short weekend trip and VERY close to home !

YOU MUST HAVE A DEVIL'S HIGHWAY PERMIT WITH THE VIDEO STAMP TO ATTEND THIS TRIP ! Instructions and links to get these permits are located on our Forum in the sign up section for this trip.

The folks that did this part of the trip in the 1st Devils Highway Group LOVED IT ! Said it was a much nicer trail than the DH and so much more interesting and that was just after a few hours ! Imagine a weekend there.

We will be camping out in a canyon in the area and exploring trails both days with plans to be back to Phoenix Sunday before dark.
