Icefields Parkway - September 12-24, 2009

|
THIS IS A JEEP ONLY EVENT LIMITED TO MEMBERS OF THE JEEP EXPEDITIONS GROUP!
Scheduled for September 12-24, 2009
Stretching 142 miles between Lake Louise and the town of Jasper, the Icefields Parkway offers access to one of most spectacular mountain landscapes on Earth.
This trip takes you on a journey throught the heart of the Canadian Rockies, a vast wilderness of magnificent peaks, ancient glaciers, pristine mountain lakes, and broad sweeping valleys.
The trip will be a two-week long, primarily on-road trip, so stock Jeep vehicles will be at no disadvantage.
However, due to northern latitudes, high elevations, and the planned Fall timeframe, snow may be encountered so 4WD is a must!
This trip is open to anyone who has participated in one of the Jeep Expeditions Group's off-road trips in the preceding 12 months.
During the trip you will get a chance to see some of the most picturesque lakes and mountains in North America. You will see waterfalls, glaciers, ride up the side of a mountain on a gondola, and take part in a group event (your choice of either a hike up Parker Ridge to a destination view that can barely be explained or an exicting journey across a glacier aboard a six-wheeled Artic vehicle).
To reach the Icefields Parkway we will travel through Salt Lake City, UT and the Glacier National Park. Weather permitting, we will be traveling the Going To The Sun Highway inside the park.
On our return, we will travel through Great Falls, MT, Cheyenne, WY, and Albuquerque, NM -- allowing us to see a completely different part of the country in the same trip.
There are a variety of campgrounds in the park and along the way.
In addition, there are a variety of hotels and resorts in the same areas.
Where you choose to stay is up to you but you must be ready to go at the assigned meet-up points each morning.
Participants in this trip will receive a list of accomodations (camping or hotel) prior to the trip. Based on the number of participants we may also be able to offer group rate discounts for the accomodations.
A couple of off-days are planned throughout the trip to give you some time to relax, rejuvenate, and enjoy some time away from work.
Prior to the trip, participants will also receive a list of attractions and sights that they can visit while enjoying the off-days in Banff and Jasper.
Bring the family and the camera.
With some of the most beautiful sights of the Canadian Rockies, this trip will give you many great memories that definitely need to be captured in pictures.
