Planned Trip : BAJA Mexico - Arizona to Cabo San Lucas - 2 Weeks in April - Dates TBA

THIS IS A JEEP ONLY EVENT LIMITED TO MEMBERS OF THE JEEP EXPEDITIONS GROUP !

To Be Scheduled 2 weeks TBA April, 2009.

The BAJA ! This you have to see !

"You're about to experience a most incredible adventure. You must expect at all times to encounter oncoming traffic. You must be alert that there are many cows, calves, bulls, horses, and goats roaming freely on and around the course. All competitors are reminded that off-road racing is an inherently dangerous activity that can result in serious injury or even death. Due to weather, animals, and people, [we] do not guarantee that all [course] markings will still be up on race day. Be advised that spectators on or near the racecourse may engage in malicious activities by building ramps, digging ditches, and/or placing objects onto the course. Once the race starts, it's outta my hands--you're on your own, or, in other words, the lunatics will, indeed, be running the asylum. Good luck and have fun!"

That's how Sal Fish, CEO/president of the race's sanctioning body, SCORE International, put it during the driver briefing the night before the 2002 Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 race.

Now that we have your attention, it won't be nearly that scary but it will be an incredible adventure without the perils they encounter during the famous Baja 100 race.....well there might be a few cows here and there.

A trip that will be suitable for the entire family and stock and modified Jeeps alike. Some camping, some hotels, lots of sampling of the local fare at restaurants and cantina's that Baja Mexico is famous for.

From the US border we will take both highways and trails to the tip of the Baja peninsula at Cabo San Lucas and back. This trip will have an optional bail out for those that can only do 1 week.

PROPOSED ITINERARY:

1. We will be leaving Phoenix on Sunday morning, April 20 (see previous post) and returning to Phoenix on Sunday night, May 4.

2. We will head down the Pacific Coast of Baja and return via the Sea of Cortez

3. We will travel only during daylight hours.

4. If we can work a deal with a resort in Cabo (see previous post) we will stay in Cabo for two nights, and skip the overnight stop in Bahia de Los Angeles (go directly from Punta San Francisquito via Bahia de Los Angeles to Gonzaga Bay).
